Introducing Lytham and Ansdell

Lytham Windmill

A Walk in the Spring Sunshine

It’s nearly 4 years since Heather and I moved to Lytham. We live about 4km out of the town in Ansdell, on the way to St. Annes. Lytham is in the northwest of England, on the Lancashire coast, between Preston and Blackpool. These are some images which I took on our recent walk into Lytham and back through the grounds of Lytham Hall.

Ansdell

We live at the other end of Woodlands Road in a block of apartments opposite The Blossoms Pub.

Beyond the railway bridge is our church, Fairhaven Methodist. Then, continuing on, you reach Granny’s Bay and the sea/Ribble estuary.

The Coast

When we reach the coast we turn left and follow the promenade towards Lytham and the famous windmill.

Lytham

Lytham is a pretty, bustling town full of places to eat and drink. It gets packed in the summer.

There are loads of events throughout the year, the biggest being the Lytham Festival which runs for 5 nights in July and attracts huge crowds to see many famous and some not so famous artists.

Lytham Hall

On our way home we pass through Lytham Hall.

I have to admit that I don’t normally “get” stately homes. However, Lytham Hall is one of my favourite spots for a wander or a cup of coffee. The gardens are lovely and the woodland, while not hugely extensive, is beautiful. Follow the links for more details about the hall and its history.

Heather and the Art Society

I couldn’t end without a quick plug for Lytham Art Society. This is my wife’s happy place. Below is a small painting Heather did while I was taking photos.
