Preston from Cuerden Valley Park |
Another Wednesday walk yesterday, this time around the surprisingly beautiful Cuerden Valley Park. Unfortunately, the circuit we set out to do couldn’t be done as the entrances to Cuerden Hall are closed off, apparently due to an “unsafe bridge”. They seem to have been closed since 2021, so I think we can assume whoever owns Cuerden Hall has little or no intention of reopening any time soon.
Finished off with a rather nice Wallings ice-cream in the Park cafe.
After the appalling news from Southport this week, it was really nice to get out into the country. My thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by this dreadful attack, particularly with the parents of the children involved.
I would love to write a measured critique of the people involved in the subsequent riot in Southport and the disturbances in other parts of the country but, without descending into abusive language, I think that all I can say is that they should stay at home in future. Home is, I suspect, in most cases a long way from Southport.
