Winter Draws On…..

As the days get shorter, colder, wetter and more windy and the nights get longer and darker, I have returned to model making. It’s ironic that, as a staunch republican (NOT in the American sense), my birthday falls on the same day as King Charles III. Anyway, as my birthday is approaching, Heather wanted to know what to get me.

She’s really come up trumps this year. Not only has she given me a space in the art room, but she has bought me a portable painting booth with a fan. Now, there’s a certain amount of self interest in the present as the smell from the aerosol acrylic paint is pretty pungent. If I’m doing stuff in the summer, the painting can be done outside, but at this time of year it’s a bit of a no-no. Having tried the booth out, it’s great. All the smell goes out through the kitchen window. I’m happy and most importantly so is Heather.

The space in the art room is great too. I used to work at the dining table which involved shifting stuff every time the table was needed. The only problem I have now is my deam of what it could look like.

So after a lovely Saturday, Sunday was something of a disappointment. My wonderful football team played in a rather less than wonderful fashion to lose the Carabao Cup Final to a, frankly, bang average Newcastle Utd 2-1. If Liverpool had been playing someone half way decent they would have got hammered! The players of the…

A cold, still day today so I’ve been for a walk with Heather this morning, through Lytham Hall grounds, down Green Drive along the coastal path to Granny’s Bay and home. Just short of 6.5 miles. Up to 14.3 miles so far. I’ll keep on going through January and see how far I get. (Camino…

Released in 1963 ( I was 12) this was one of my earliest favourite films. Perhaps this explains the way my sense of humour developed over the years. However, the title of the film was obviously prophetic. This is from The Guardian this morning:  China targets group of MPs and peers with string of cyber-attacks…
