Exploration and Investigation

Those of you reading this who live locally, will know that we have a new road from Ansdell up to the beginning of the M55. As they have laid a nice footpath along the new road I decided to have a bit of an explore on Thursday morning, as a bit of a change from heading to the coast. As you can see from the attched image, there wasn’t a lot of hill walking! However it was quite interesting covering a bit of new ground.

The part linking the Crematorium to Blackpool Road is extremely interesting. This is Regent Avenue. For those of you from Southport, it’s a bit like Selworthy Road or Victoria Road in Freshfield or for those from the Solihull area, Lady Byron Lane, Knowle.

This little house has 6 bedrooms, umpteen bathrooms, swimming pool, etc., etc., and is a snip at just short of £2.8 million, and there are quite a few more similar.

The walk itself was only OK. It was very noisy along Blackpool Road and Lytham St Annes Way (the new road) and the scenery wasn’t great, but at the junction of Heyhouses Lane and the new road is a beautiful park.

Unfortunately, as you can see, it’s festooned with Keep Out signs. As I walked past, taking a few photos, I got into converstaion with a lady who lives in the Cypress Point developement opposite the park. According to her, the park was established by the leaseholders of Cypress Point and the maintenance is paid out of the ground rent charged on the residences in Cypress Point. Now at this stage you probably think they all have a key to get into the park, but, no. They have to apply to the company which owns the lease to obtain a key to get in. Apparently one or two couples have had wedding phtographs taken in the park, but mostly it remains completely unused but very nicely maintained. What a waste! I won’t go into what the lady told me about restrictions imposed by the management company on land usage within Cypress Point. Suffice to say, I’m pleased that, when we were looking for a flat in Lytham, we didn’t choose that particular development.

Isn’t it amazing what you can find out merely by chatting to someone.
