It’s All Happening at The Zoo

As a relative newcomer to Lytham, I don’t know whether this happens every year but, for the last 2 years Blackpool Zoo have offered a 40% discount for residents of FY postcodes during March. So, always with an eye out for a bargain, we had a day out at the zoo today.

I’m not entirely sure that the heron is a resident. I think it may have been pasing through, but it does look rather elegant. Please excuse the scratches on the glass between me and the tiger. I really didn’t want to get any closer!

I had a look at the relative entry charges for our all time favourite zoo at La Palmyre on the west coast of France. Blackpool, with 40% discount was £13.19 each per adult plus £4.50 to park the car. La Palmyre is currently 22euros (£18.45) full price. I’ve no idea whether La Palmyre is part funded by the state or local authority but, nice as Blackpool is, the French one is bigger and better, and you can feed the animals. Shame it’s so far away.

My little Lancia Delta S4 has been keeping me busy recently, so I haven’t had time to post. I have to say that things are not going well. I suspect it’s a combination of my ineptitude and the fact that the model is not particularly well made and the instructions leave a bit to be…

As a country we’ve lost a Home Secretary and then a Chief Whip and her Deputy and then got them back, and then a Prime Minister. Yesterday evening (Aug 3rd) Heather and I attended a vigil for peace in Gaza. This post and the next will featrure two poems by Palestinian writers which were used in the vigil. Neither are used to excuse or justify the actions of either Hamas or the Israeli government and army. Both, it seems to me,…
