It’s All Happening at The Zoo

As a relative newcomer to Lytham, I don’t know whether this happens every year but, for the last 2 years Blackpool Zoo have offered a 40% discount for residents of FY postcodes during March. So, always with an eye out for a bargain, we had a day out at the zoo today.

I’m not entirely sure that the heron is a resident. I think it may have been pasing through, but it does look rather elegant. Please excuse the scratches on the glass between me and the tiger. I really didn’t want to get any closer!

I had a look at the relative entry charges for our all time favourite zoo at La Palmyre on the west coast of France. Blackpool, with 40% discount was £13.19 each per adult plus £4.50 to park the car. La Palmyre is currently 22euros (£18.45) full price. I’ve no idea whether La Palmyre is part funded by the state or local authority but, nice as Blackpool is, the French one is bigger and better, and you can feed the animals. Shame it’s so far away.

🎉  Splendid party with old friends yesterday. We compared medications, illnesses, discussed the medications and illnesses of people who weren’t there. We solved some of the world’s problems, but not many. I managed to avoid any political discussions at all (as far as I can remember anyway) probably due to the fact I was driving…

Since the Walking Weekend at the very end of August, I’ve found it really hard to get back to the level of walking I was doing before. I went up to Stocks Reservoir the weekend after the Wales trip and really struggled to do a walk that, previously, I would have expected to do easily….

If anyone is actually keeping up with this blog, you may remember that a while ago I discovered a load of blog posts had gone missing, including the majority of my Camino posts from 2016. I’ve actually found links to them in Facebook posts, but the links just lead to messages telling me the posts…

  • Back from the Wilds

Just back from a weekend in North Wales with good mates from Southport. No phone signal. No wifi. I didn’t see any news from Thursday lunchtime till Sunday evening and it was bliss. We stayed near Beddgelert which is one of my favourite places in Britain. Surrounded by lakes, mountains, waterfalls, it really is beautiful…
