The final Piece of the Jigsaw

Got the last 2 pieces of the travel jigsaw sorted. Southport to London and Paris to Irun (Northern Spain). It’s 234 miles approx from Southport to London and 500 miles approx from Paris to Irun, and guess what? The English bit of the journey is going to cost almost exactly twice as much as the French part, which is more than twice as far!  It will be interesting to compare Virgin with the TGV.
So we’re now totally committed. We just have to decide where to start the walk from now. Logrono is still favourite. It feels like it’s suddenly come much closer.
We have a few days in the Lake District  next week, and the weather forecast looks OK. Looking forward to getting a bit of walking in, after a pretty sedentary few weeks, due to the dreadful weather and loads of work……. NOT complaining Martin!

A cold, still day today so I’ve been for a walk with Heather this morning, through Lytham Hall grounds, down Green Drive along the coastal path to Granny’s Bay and home. Just short of 6.5 miles. Up to 14.3 miles so far. I’ll keep on going through January and see how far I get. (Camino…

As my mummy and daddy were away on Friday night, I was staying with my Nana and Grandad. As Grandad and I had breakfast on Saturday morning, I could tell something was wrong. Grandad was chunnering and wasn’t his normal happy self. He kept on muttering about someone called Nigel, who seemed to have done…

  • The Ghost of Tom Joad

In the UK, we’ve managed to show some sense and get rid of the bunch of self serving, privately educated conservative politicians and replace them with a group of, hopefully, more effective, honest and moral leaders. With 2 cabinet members from the same Wigan Comprehensive school, at least we should be able to see an…

  • Winter Draws On…..

As the days get shorter, colder, wetter and more windy and the nights get longer and darker, I have returned to model making. It’s ironic that, as a staunch republican (NOT in the American sense), my birthday falls on the same day as King Charles III. Anyway, as my birthday is approaching, Heather wanted to…

  • Back in France at last!

We are finally back in France. Brittany to be precise, and we have found that we love it just as much as we always have. It’s a bit cloudy this morning with a threat of a little rain, so, Heather’s painting and I’m blogging again. (At last ! I hear you all cry). Travelled down…
