Postcard from Crete
Grandad has sent me another few pictures and a story or two from his holidays.
Apparently they had an earthquake a few days ago! Nana and Grandad slept through it of course.
They have been exploring Crete by bus. Grandad wanted to hire a car, but Nana wasn’t keen.
Heraklion is the capital of Crete and the airport is named after the man who wrote Zorba the Greek. I have no idea what that is! Agios Nikolaos has a lake right in the middle of the town which is bottomless.
Nana and Grandad decided to hire a car for 2 days to visit some places they went years ago with my Daddy and Uncle David when they were little. They went to a place called Matala where some woman called Joni Mitchell lived for a while. Nana and Grandad were very impressed but her house seems to have been a cave.
They also went to Plakias, but said that it was full of people pretending to be hippies but using posh bars and restaurants. Not like Nana and Grandad at all then. They said they drove back in a sandstorm which had blown in from Africa. There is a picture of the hire car.
Anyway, Nana and Grandad are home tomorrow. I’m going to Uncle David and Auntie Sarah’s at the weekend. Perhaps Grandad will let me blog about that.
