Grandson Climbs a Mountain

Mummy and Daddy took me up to The Lake District at the weekend and we climbed another mountain. This one was by the side of a big lake and there was a huge waterfall on the way up. There were stairs so you could go down to the bottom of the falls.

The path up the mountain follows the river for a while and then you go up to the top. I’m sure that Nana and Grandad would have liked this but they both say that their knees are going wonky. They say that they both hurt when coming down, which sounds a bit strange. Also Grandad keeps saying, “It’s my medication!” I don’t really understand old people.

Anyway, on Friday Mummy and Daddy are going out to see a lady singing in a field in Lytham. I’m staying with Nana and Grandad and we’re having a pizza night. I hope Grandad doesn’t start drinking that red pop of his. Last time he fell asleep and snored through the film.

Next Sunday all the family are meeting up for a meal to celebrate cousin Nick’s birthday. He’s 23! I’m really looking forward to it. I mustn’t fall for the “What’s that on your shirt” trick again!!!!

  • Keep On Walking

A cold, still day today so I’ve been for a walk with Heather this morning, through Lytham Hall grounds, down Green Drive along the coastal path to Granny’s Bay and home. Just short of 6.5 miles. Up to 14.3 miles so far. I’ll keep on going through January and see how far I get. (Camino…

I don’t think that there has been a season since the very early 60s when I have watched less football. From about 1966 I used to stand on the Kop until family and work started interfering. Then it was a case of going when I was able. Gradually over the years my attendance at the…

  • My New Bluetooth Keyboard

I’ve just received a rather dinky folding bluetooth keyboard from those tax avoiders at Amazon. I thought that if I was going to blog while we were walking the Camino, I really needed a keyboard and at 25 squid, this looks ideal. Problem No. 1 is I can’t find the pound sign, but the keyboard…

  • On our way at Last!

First blogpost of the holiday from the 10:09 to Euston. Train packed and had no seats booked, so we’re sitting separately, but on our way. Felt quite unsettled at the beginning of the week, but yesterday and today I’ve been cool, calm and collected. Walked our of the flat at 9:45 as planned. The only…

Just back from a weekend in North Wales with good mates from Southport. No phone signal. No wifi. I didn’t see any news from Thursday lunchtime till Sunday evening and it was bliss. We stayed near Beddgelert which is one of my favourite places in Britain. Surrounded by lakes, mountains, waterfalls, it really is beautiful…
