Speke Hall again and other stuff

Thursday was the last full day of the school holidays that we would have our grandson. After our visit to Speke Hall earlier in the summer, we thought it would make a great day out for all three of us, so, off we went.

Despite the weather forecast being a bit iffy, apart from a couple of heavy showers whilst in the car, it was OK, and we had a great time. The ‘Summer of Play’ stuff that the National Trust had going for children was great and our grandson really enjoyed a treasure hunt in Speke Hall itself, and The Childe of Hale Play Trail. The maze, the woodland trail and lunch got high marks too.

All in all a fab day out, and, as ever, the NT guides in the hall were awesome.

After a day of recovery from Speke Hall, we went out last night with good friends for an early meal and then a quiet night at Lowther Pavillion with the Ultimate Classic Rock Show. The night could only have been improved had the band invited Peter Griffin to do his famous karaoke version of ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ (Sorry. For those not aware, this is a Family Guy reference). An absolutely brilliant night. Great musicians and singers and the audience, if a little on the mature side, were realy into it. It also had the longest queue for the gents since The Australian Pink Floyd Show.

Woke up with sore throat!

Despite my earlier post promising no more politics till 2026, I nearly succumbed. Thankfully, I read Marina Hyde in The Guardian this morning and decided that she said it better than me. Follow the link.

Crocusses near The Clifton Memorial, Lytham St. Annes I had a lovely walk in the spring sunshine this morning.
