Sorry about that, but I needed a rant but didn’t want to break my promise, so, you have a choice. Translate and read or don’t bother. Unless, of course, you can speak/read French (Hello Canada! Can we have Mark Carney back please?), in which case, more apologies.

The Christmas cakes smell lovely, by the way.

If you have read my blog fairly regularly, you will know that I am always banging on about how grateful I am to the NHS for keeping me going despite my various medical conditions. Well my dear wife and I now have another reason for gratitude. Unfortunately, just over a week ago, Heather had a…

  • The Anniversary Waltz

So that’s it, the end of our weekend Golden wedding celebrations. Sunday was OK. A not too wet Lytham proms which was spoiled rather by a lack of musicians. Mostly the performers sang to backing tracks which I’m never too keen on. Then on Monday we drove up to Barnard Castle. We found a fabulous…

  • Last Training Yomp

Last training run today, before the big day on May 19th. As those of you who went on geography field trips to view limestone countryside will know, this is Malham Cove, one of the wonders of the northern world. We did 11miles with full pack and seemed to manage OK. The test will come on…

  • Have yourself a merry little Christmas

We’re having a lovely time in Stainton. We had a beautiful Christmas lunch courtesy of Sarah. We walked yesterday morning onto Askham Fell to overlook Ullswater and the Helvellyn range and then dozed through the afternoon and today we’ve been out replenishing the food stocks. We’ve attempted to learn how to play poker with varying…
