The Wanderers

Thursday morning looked a bit iffy on the north coast so we headed south to Auray, where we made an interesting discovery. We have some photos of our boys on holiday which we have always thought were in Dinan, but it became obvious that they were actually taken in Auray. It’s a lovely town and we had a great day with a very nice lunch as well.

Friday we headed for the beach! We went to Pleneuf-Val Andre and walked along the beach towards Erquy, where we had stayed on our first French holiday when our David was 1. It was a lovely morning but went cloudy, windy and chilly in the afternoon.

On Saturday we returned to Josselin which, along with Amboise and Auray is probably one of our favourite places from this holiday.

Because our gite in Brittany is in the middle of nowhere, we have tended to eat out at lunchtime and cook, if necessary at home. This is fine but it would have been nice to find a restaurant or two of a similar standard to the two we found in the Loire Valley. The gite, however, is lovely whereas the one in the Loire was a bit basic (apart from the shower!)

We have met a few Brits who have been in various bits of France and, apart from the very south, the weather has been very unsettled everywhere. Met a couple yesterday who were caravanning and the lady was complaining that she had forgotten to bring her wellies for walking to the toilet block! Very glad we are in a gite.
