Keep On Walking

A cold, still day today so I’ve been for a walk with Heather this morning, through Lytham Hall grounds, down Green Drive along the coastal path to Granny’s Bay and home. Just short of 6.5 miles.

Up to 14.3 miles so far. I’ll keep on going through January and see how far I get. (Camino training??) I can’t wait to get out of Lytham to walk. Hopefully, from Jan 20th, I’ll be back driving and I’m looking to do the famous Rag Pudding walk (possibly no pub – dry January and all that guff!), Rivington, Rufford and Slaidburn. I’ll post dates and, if anyone fancies joining me, that would be great!

I’m sat listening to some rather chilled out music while the wife watches Downton Midwives on the telly. It’s grey, blustery, but not actually raining at present. • The Joy of Sport 2

So after a lovely Saturday, Sunday was something of a disappointment. My wonderful football team played in a rather less than wonderful fashion to lose the Carabao Cup Final to a, frankly, bang average Newcastle Utd 2-1. If Liverpool had been playing someone half way decent they would have got hammered! The players of the…

Sunday the 7th was dull in the morning but dry, so we decided to go for a walk in the afternoon. The countryside around the gite was very pleasant. Rolling farmland with loads of trees and deep river valleys. In fact lovely walking country. We covered 6 or 7 miles, on what tuned out to…

Thursday morning looked a bit iffy on the north coast so we headed south to Auray, where we made an interesting discovery. We have some photos of our boys on holiday which we have always thought were in Dinan, but it became obvious that they were actually taken in Auray. It’s a lovely town and…

  • So many socks, so little time!

After a beautiful 2-3 days in the Lake District walking and the discovery (by us anyway) of Downham near Clitheroe and  the rather wonderful Assheton Arms, we now have only 10 weeks to go. Above you see Loughrigg Tarn with The Langdales in the background, and below my niece -in-law (?) Jenny at the Fairy…
