The Anniversary Waltz

Heather’s suitcase waiting to be loaded into the car……………. just not this one!

So that’s it, the end of our weekend Golden wedding celebrations. Sunday was OK. A not too wet Lytham proms which was spoiled rather by a lack of musicians. Mostly the performers sang to backing tracks which I’m never too keen on.

Then on Monday we drove up to Barnard Castle. We found a fabulous chocolate shop and had a super afternoon in the Garage Spa at The Morritt Hotel, followed by a nice evening meal and a few drinks. This morning we drove up to Durham, just because we had never been there.

Durham Cathedral from Crook Hall Gardens

The weather was a bit iffy but we walked through the city to the cathedral. From the outside, I think the actual building is quite severe. It’s huge but compared to the French and Spanish cathedrals we’ve visited over the last few years, it’s not very decorative. But inside was something else.

As well as hosting the Chapel of St. Cuthbert there are modern treasures in the stained glass

So having been a bit disappointed by the exterior, the interior was great.

Walking back to the car along the River Weir we came across this fisherman.

So a very, very enjoyable anniversary weekend. A great way to celebrate 50 years of married life.

The Conservative candidate won but with…
