Chill Out at Acorn Bank

It’s been a really busy month so far. I repeated the Beacon Fell walk with 2 good friends from Southport about 10 days ago. The post showing the original walk in May is HERE.

Then we had big Grandson’s 23rd birthday at the rather wonderful Solito Posto in Lytham. Small Grandson says it has the best ice cream anywhere, but I went for a double espresso and a glass of Strega. People say it’s an aquired taste, in which case I’ve aquired it!

Following this we were out for lunch at Lytham Hall with one of our neighbours and a friend of hers who was over from the USA. Dawn is from Texas. She was amazed to see no MAGA caps in the gift shop. (Joke! When I first met Dawn and her late husband, practically the first thing they said to me was that they didn’t vote for Trump).

Following that, I was out with friends from my mis-spent middle age on Wednesday and then Heather and I met up with more friends for lunch on Friday. We then left to go to David and Sarah’s in Cumbria for a couple of nights.

As it was hot on Saturday, we escaped to one of our favourite chill-out spots, Acorn Bank.

It’s a beautiful place to stroll in the woods. There is a working flour mill (Check for opening times) and beautiful gardens. Particularly useful were the collection of deck chairs on the lawn, beneath a beech tree giving shade and a beautiful view across the Eden Valley towards the Lake District.

We needed to leave early on Sunday morning unfortunately. We left Stainton near Penrith at just after 8am and were home in Lytham at about 9:25am. A record breaking run for me.
