Grandad said that my last post on the blog was really good and lots of people read it, so he’s let me do another one. Even my cousin liked it and he’s a black belt in karate!
Nana and Grandad pick me up from school on a Thursday, and last Thursday was the 80th anniversary of the end of World War 2 and we had been doing loads about it in school.
We also had a cake competition and Nana and Grandad really liked mine. Actually, mummy helped me, so it wasn’t just mine.
I thought you all might like a picture of me doing a PB in Junior Park Run last Sunday as well.
Our lessons about the war have been really interesting. My Grandad’s dad was in the war, but wasn’t a hero or anything. He just seems to have ridden around Europe on a motorbike swapping stuff for eggs, but even he got some medals. Nana’s dad got loads of medals because he was in the army for ages but she hasn’t got them. She muttered a bit about him letting her brothers have the medals because she was a girl. I don’t think that’s very fair, do you?
I asked Grandad why countries go to war, but he didn’t seem to know either. He just said that often it was very complicated and that a lot of wars were caused by things that happened a long time ago. I can’t see why, if these things happened ages ago, the countries haven’t talked to each other and made friends again. That’s got to be better than shooting and bombing each other.
At school, if we fall out, we have to tell each other why we fell out and make up so we can all be friends again.
When I’m Prime Minister, I’m going to make sure we dont have any more wars and get countries that look like they are going to fall out to be nice to one another.
Why aren’t grown-ups more sensible?
